EARLY TREATMENT

We recommend the first orthodontic checkup to occur about 7-8 years of age or when the permanent incisors begin to appear. At this time, Dr. Elfman can detect developing orthodontic situations and can plan the best approach for their correction. Certain conditions respond best to early intervention, before all the permanent teeth are present. This will prevent additional complication and improve the child’s growth and development. Other conditions can be monitored and corrected more efficiently and economically later, closer to the time when all the permanent teeth are in the mouth. Dr Elfman’s background in Pediatric Dentistry allows him to offer greater insight to the specialized care for children.

The results of early intervention are dramatic and impressive. The child’s self-confidence increases, which can lead to greater success in many aspects of their lives.

ADULT TREATMENT

About 30% of orthodontic patients are adults who desire a beautiful, dynamite smile. Straight teeth are not only more attractive, but they are healthier teeth, as they can be cleaned and maintained easier. A proper bite is also important for the long term health of your teeth and TMJ (jaw joint). Orthodontic treatment is an investment in your overall dental, medical and psychological well-being. Clear braces and Invisalign® are making adult correction hardly noticeable, and the results are amazing.

Straight Teeth: No Braces – No Kidding!
There is a new alternative to straightening teeth without braces called Invisalign®. It is a series of clear plastic trays or aligners worn over the teeth that move the teeth in small increments until our final goal is achieved. Each aligner is worn full-time for about two weeks, removing them only to eat and brush your teeth. They are virtually invisible. Unfortunately, Invisalign® is not intended for everyone, especially children and more significant orthodontic corrections.

Dr. Elfman is a trained and certified Invisalign® orthodontist who can determine if Invisalign® will work for you.
