Lost Separators
Separators are small elastic rings placed between the teeth to create space prior to fitting braces. The majority of patients lose a separator during treatment. If a separator comes out before your next visit with us, follow these simple steps to replace it:
First, thread a piece of dental floss through the center of the separator.
Next, double the floss on both sides of the separator.
Hold the floss on both sides.
Carefully, slide the floss in the space, between the teeth, where the separator has come out.
Pull the separator through the space.
Keep your finger on top of the separator and gently slide the floss out of your mouth.
