Dr. Elfman and his staff have a very simple goal - “to provide exceptional orthodontic care in a friendly atmosphere.” The doctor and his entire staff go out of their way to make our office a fun place, where everyone is always smiling. The office is committed to strict sterilization of all instruments to ensure your visit is safe. All instruments are cleaned in an ultra-sonic cleaner, then their heat sterilized. The sterilizers are periodically monitored to ensure effectiveness. Items that cannot be sterilized and office surfaces are sterilized or disinfected with hospital-grade solutions. All handpieces are also heat sterilized. Of course, we do not re-use brackets!

Scheduling Appointments

We are sensitive to the fact that you and your family have many daily obligations. Longer appointments, which are occasional, are scheduled during school or work hours. However, the majority of appointments can be scheduled during the after school or work hours or on Saturday.

This allows us to accommodate as many patients with short appointments as possible. As always, we try to be as accomodating as we can.

Missed Appointments

If you missed an appointment, it is very important that you call the office to reschedule. Missed appointments or numerous appointment changes can adversely affect treatment progress. Waiting for a convenient after school or evening appointment can delay treatment. In the event that you cannot keep or need to change your appointment, we ask that you give us 24 hours notice.

Broken Appliances

If you have a problem with your braces and our First Aid page did not help, please call our office as soon as possible. (You may leave a message if the office is closed.) We may have to reschedule your next appointment to allow adequate time for the repair. It is not an emergency unless you are in pain.

Insurance
This office is happy to cooperate with those who have dental insurance covering orthodontic treatment. Dental insurance is intended to cover some, but not all, of the cost of your dental care. Most plans include co-insurance, a deductible and other expenses that must be paid by the patient.

If you have dental insurance, please bring your plan information with you to your first visit. We will work with you to assure that you receive the maximum benefits to which you are entitled.

Once a pre-determination of benefits has been approved by your insurance carrier, we will credit your monthly balance by applying the benefits to your account.

If you have any questions regarding your coverage, please feel free to ask a member of your business office staff.

OFFICE TECHNOLOGY/PRODUCTS

Dr. Elfman is committed to delivering the best orthodontic care in the most efficient manner. To that end, he has invested in the latest state-of-the-art computer system to manage his practice. The system produces an impressive initial letter with digital pictures that outline the specific problems and list the diagnostic findings. The pictures allow you to see your teeth in a manner you’re not accustomed to viewing them. Additionally, when your care is completed, you’ll receive a wonderful before and after letter, which highlights the remarkable changes that occurred. The program allows for better communication with your general dentist. Also, we can track scheduling, appointment wait time, patient financials and insurance benefits with greater efficiency. We are very proud of this system, and our patients really appreciate the benefits as well!

We also utilize the latest in material/bonding technology to decrease the discomfort and undesirable side effects associated with orthodontics. In particular, these materials reduce the permanent scarring or cavities that sometimes occur under and around the braces. The bonding materials release trace amounts of fluoride. For our patients’ added comfort, these materials can be hardened rapidly by an ultra-modern high intensity curing light.

Our more mature patients are excited about the cosmetic alternatives for patients who are concerned about the metal look of braces. We offer the clear ceramic brackets and/or the Invisalign System. These treatment modalities are hardly noticeable. The Invisalign System requires a very technical impression technique to ensure accuracy. The system is virtually an invisible method for correcting mild to moderate problems in adult patients. The process consists of wearing a series of clear plastic trays over your teeth that produce slight tooth movement until the goal of straight teeth is achieved. The clear trays are more hygienic than braces, and there are no diet restrictions! Unfortunately, the Invisalign System is not available for all cases. Please ask the receptionist for more information or to schedule a free consultation to see if you would be a candidate for Invisalign.
